Pools I (1998-2001) Here's Alban at Disneyland. For the kids, a vacation without a pool is like halloween without candy. Is this kid happy, or what!! By the way, Alban does not want to convey the impression that he cannot swim. He can now. When this photo was taken, in March 1999, he could too, but it was easier to wear the lifejacket than not. That's Alban's modus operandi, making things easier for himself. (Except for a while in soccer and mountain biking!!). Here are more recent pool pictures.
![]() ![]() Above, Tom diving. The children claim that there was a sign behind him saying "No Diving". ![]() On the left, Daphné during the same wintertime swim at Disneyland in Anaheim in March 1999. Here's another of Daphné in a pool. Below, All four of the big kids at Disneyland at the same time. Don't forget, those of you who do not live in the sunbelt, that it is hot in LA in March!! ![]()
The children deplore the absence of parents from the swimming pool (and the ocean), attributable to their supervisory responsibilities. (And their fear of water), "and they are too busy in their bed doing something that I am not going to tell you" (Alban, at 11!). Wrong, Alban! When you're in the pool, we're watching! Here is a water ride at an English Funfair, and here a log ride at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk: water is fun wherever you find it. Here's a boat, and here a ferry.
And sometimes we parents actually do get our feet wet. Key Biscayne, Florida, in 2000. It was hot, and all of us spent most of our time in the hotel swimming pool. Marie-Hélène, the only one of us missing from this picture, took it. But she was splashing around with the rest of us! |
