It's little early to say that skiing is a family hobby, although Daphné and her then beau skied Heavenly one weekend in two during the 2006-7 season and Marie-Hélène and Ian's first date was a ski weekend in Megève in early 1994, because we've all only skied together once. But boy was it fun! It was in 2002, and everybody stopped squabbling. Charlie and Alex, for whom this was their first time on skis, loved it as much as the rest of us. Now, if only Alpine Meadows would offer a family plan for BIG families for their lift tickets and rental packages!! On the right below is Alex at Tahoe in 2007.
Six of us went skiing during our Vancouver vacation in early spring 2003, at Whistler, the resort north of Vancouver with the vast ski area even in May or June. ![]() On the left are Charlie and Alex gliding down one after the other. Daphné and Alban looked after the little guys until the parents arrived, and then disappeared for the rest of the day. So we got no pictures of either on the slopes at Whistler. Below is one of each of the parents, Marie-Hélène (on the slopes at Whistler) and Ian (in the woods near Tahoe in 1998).

The children all have a ball on the slopes, although the older four now typically go with their friends rather than with family . . . . Charlie and Alex are still going with us as 2007 comes to an end. Here they are again at Whistler in 2003, mastering the process of going up the hill.
Skiing encompasses sledding: here are Alban (in 1998 between Truckee and Tahoe) and Alex and Charlie (in 2007 at Northstar: it was 70 degrees that day):
Other fun activities include swimming, soccer, surfing, more soccer, and of course vacations. |
